Introduce Yourself
« on: April 27, 2007, 01:18:49 AM »

Welcome everyone. It'd be good to see one of your first posts be in this thread. Good way to get to know what other kayakers enjoy in Maine.

I myself, am a small business owner by day, but in the off time it's either motorcycling, hiking, mt. biking, or last but not least kayaking.

I mostly kayak rivers, since they are free flowing and you can experience wildlife and scenery but also get into some chop here & there. The kayak I have is an Old Town Rush XT, which is good for mild to moderately choppy rivers.

So far I've been on the Kennebec from Waterville to Sydney, and a bunch of times on the Sebasticook from Burnham to Benton (sometimes we stop at Clinton).

My goal this year is to get up to the forks and do some wave riding with Jake and whoever opts-in to join us!

Hi Everyone!

This site is a great idea.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm friends with Jake and Lee!

I have an Old Town Castine.  It's a 13 foot sea kayak.  I love going out on the ocean and checking out the scenery in a completely different way.  I usually can be found in Lamoine, Bar Harbor, or Rockland.  There are some great spots to lay low, camp, or just enjoy a private beach!

I would love to try river kayaking.  Never been with my boat because I just feel like it's too long. I figure it may be easier to get around and go through the white water with a white water boat.

I'm excited that it's almost time to launch my girl, can't wait for this season.  Take care everyone!

Peace,
Ali

I'm looking forward to a great season of sea kayaking.  The only issue is I don't have a boat, yet.  I've been seakayaking for about 7 years intermittently and now am ready to make a commitment to it.  I have only kayaked around MDI but look forward to expanding up the coast.
